Connors Hunting Competition

Connor attended the Fernridge School "Take a kid hunting" competition with the 3 hares and 1 rabbit that he and Matthew collected last night and this morning, 11.8kg all up.
On the way out for his evening hunt with Daddy on Saturday night

Ronan's Walker

This was bought by Jenny and Ken for Ronan's christmas present, however, he's already furniture cruising and is starting to try and walk across furniture gaps.

And he won $100 worth of hunting clothes and a backpack, for the most hares...way to go Connor!

Hunting with Connor

Just got back from a mammoth 3.5 hour hunt with Connor this evening, hunting hares on dusk, and spot lighting. Weather was appalling..but he made me proud. He was amazingly well behaved, very sensible and very safe, every time the spot light came on, he instantly (with out being told), moved out of the way of the rifle, and was always aware where I was and what I was doing (as was I of him of course).  One very tired little boy though when we got home at 10:30pm (after a 4km quad bike ride in the blustery southerly and rain!).
We managed 3 hares, doubt it's enough to win the competition, but that's not a problem!

One of my current fav photos

Steph and I were reviewing the year's photos the other night, and came across this.  There is something about it that caught both our eyes (as opposed to looking at the image one-eyed :-) )

A Busy day smoking

Well today we've smoked 50 sausages (only precooked cheapey, but they come up really yummy!), 1 southern boarfish, and a homemade pastrami.  Just sampled the pastrami...the crust blows your head off!  Maybe next time I might cut back on the pepper a bit :-)

Last week we smoked a veni roast for us, and some chickens and sausages for a friend.  What will it be next week.

Steph's Awesome Effort

Back in August, Steph and I went to the Gold Coast with Jenny & Ken.  Whilst there, we had the master bedroom (the porta-cot fitted better), and right outside the on-suite door was a full length mirror!  After this trip, Steph and I decided something needed to be done...so here are the results..
Steph's effort, starting from Ronan's birth, the steep drop at the end is basically the result of a better diet, and Wii Biggest Loser (and doing their exercise plan religiously (not the diet however), we still have our milo's (however Steph doesn't eat milo anymore :-) ) )

And this is mine, on a slightly larger scale ('cause it showed me gaining weight, I zoomed into to the losing it bit only!) (oh, the little up bits, are not me being naughty, it's a collection of #2's!)

Now, I thought I was reasonably fit before this, and we've just done a 40 minute challenging work out, and whilst it wasn't comfortable, we survived, where as before that would have probably killed us...what I'm trying to say is, if we were already reasonably fit, and are finding it not easy to  achieve this, I cannot imagine what Carisa went through....I have NOTHING but admiration and pride in what she has achieved..You go girl!.

Effin Rats

Got back yesterday to a defrosted fridge freezer, and 2 chest freezers (with 2 pigs, venison etc!) Managed to salvage some, and whilst trying to identify what the problem was we smelt a burning smell so we called a sparky in this morning, here's what he found.
