Another weekend

Another weekend, and another raft of jobs done, the guttering is up, and the driveway is laid, and edged! I've decorated both bathrooms, the toilets have been replaced, and Steph has finished laying the stones in the vege bed and been keeping the boys out of my hair!

This weekend, Ronan started on solids too, yesterday he knocked down 1/2 a can of fruit salad, and was caught on camera diving into Steph's banana.

Here's a few photos from this weekend

More Photos

If I flap my arms fast enough, I might fly.

Some random pictures

We are dangerously close to listing now, a few spots to paint, a couple of curtains to hem, and a 10 ton pile of stones to distribute :-), one bathroom to go and a laundry.

In the meantime, here's some random photos

An update

Well, I've been very lazy about blogging what's been happening, and heaps has happened. As some of you might already know via Facebook, about 2 months ago I resigned from the Metservice, and now I work as a "Senior Research Engineer" for a software development company in Palmerston North called Unlimited Realities. This means that Littlebush is soon to be on the market, hence the frantic decorating. So far we've painted the lounge, redone the kitchen, the master bedroom and currently working on the bathrooms. The guttering has been done, and we're about to redo the driveway too. Hopefully we'll end up with a well presented house that will sell nice and fast.  At the moment, I live in Palmerston for 2 nights a week, which sounds like it could be great, but I'm working long hours so that I can have Friday to spend with Connor in the morning and then do more work on the property in the afternoon.
We're hoping to have the farm listed in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed, 'cause I would like to spend a full week with my family, it's been quite a while since I have :-(

So What's New

Well, not a great deal really, things have been pretty quite here. Ronan has been sleeping well, and has had a couple of "growing days", 11 hours sleep the other night ( :-) ).  Connor still totally dotes on his little brother, and keeps trying to help in numerous ways.
On the farm front, we've moved the pigs from the pig paddock into one of the normal paddocks, which they are currently rooting up, the did keep breaking out (well climbing through the fence) so they could sit in one of the water troughs, but a bit of electric fencing sorted that out!  We're down another chook, we had him for tea last night, very tasty, cooked a bit long though, I put him in the smoker.
I went for a hunt this morning too, and it about the 5 time to this spot, and it was primarily a recce for the roar since last June they 1080'ed the block. This time we pulled up the dam at the top of the hill, and bugger me, there were two stags at the top of the hill watching us.  We didn't get a shot off, but we did a bit of walking around, and saw fresh pig sign, and prints from a couple of hind family groups (Mum, yearling daughter and fawn), and a couple of wallows, one already dug out and recently worked up. Fingers crossed for a successful hunt there soon.

Electrical Storm

There was a really good electrical storm this after noon, managed to get a shot of the lightning (the reason it's purplish is that camera is set up to photograph the IR spectrum too)

End of my paternity leave

Oh well, my 2 weeks are up, and I didn't even manage a single hunt (did try for one today, but the stream was up to much, and we bailed for safety reasons, oh well.
Whilst on my leave, Ronan has gained a fair amount of weight (but I don't think I had anything to do with that), and we've also got a few jobs out of the way. We've redone the internet antenna, and laid out 170m of cable so we have better, faster, stronger internet now. I've also cleaned the garage, mounted a gate so that the pigs can go out into the paddocks for grass, got the stuff to finally finish the dog run (well the front of it). Not bad for basically 2 weeks of rain! In the middle of that we did manage to take Ronan for his first kite fishing trip to Lake Ferry, and we hauled in about 200kg of seaweed (man that was hard work) and 1 small red cod, 1 small dogfish and 2 really nice Kahawai.

Connor's first fish

Yesterday I took Connor up to Napier for a day's fishing on the wharf (so Steph could have a day alone with Ronan).

On the last hook he caught a fish, and it was a snapper, really, photos to prove.

Reading time

Every evening before bed Connor gets a couple of stories from Steph and I, and since Ronan was born, he likes Ronan to be involved if he can, so this evening when it came to story time, Ronan joined in too.

The Huck Males

First 24 hours

Steph discharged herself before 8am yesterday, and we were all home by about 9:30.  Ronan is doing well, and even slept from about 11pm till 4 last night, which was great.

More photos to come soon (time to make Steph some breakfast)

A New Arrival

Well,  Ronan was born today at around 6:45pm, weighing 9lb, after a 5 hour and 45 minute labour.  Steph and Ronan are both fine. He's very healthy and feeding well.

No excitement like last time, very straight forward birth, which is good!
