There was a really good electrical storm this after noon, managed to get a shot of the lightning (the reason it's purplish is that camera is set up to photograph the IR spectrum too)
Living on a small farm can be quite fun and there are many new adventures. This is our story.

End of my paternity leave
Oh well, my 2 weeks are up, and I didn't even manage a single hunt (did try for one today, but the stream was up to much, and we bailed for safety reasons, oh well.
Whilst on my leave, Ronan has gained a fair amount of weight (but I don't think I had anything to do with that), and we've also got a few jobs out of the way. We've redone the internet antenna, and laid out 170m of cable so we have better, faster, stronger internet now. I've also cleaned the garage, mounted a gate so that the pigs can go out into the paddocks for grass, got the stuff to finally finish the dog run (well the front of it). Not bad for basically 2 weeks of rain! In the middle of that we did manage to take Ronan for his first kite fishing trip to Lake Ferry, and we hauled in about 200kg of seaweed (man that was hard work) and 1 small red cod, 1 small dogfish and 2 really nice Kahawai.

Connor's first fish
Yesterday I took Connor up to Napier for a day's fishing on the wharf (so Steph could have a day alone with Ronan).
On the last hook he caught a fish, and it was a snapper, really, photos to prove.

Reading time
Every evening before bed Connor gets a couple of stories from Steph and I, and since Ronan was born, he likes Ronan to be involved if he can, so this evening when it came to story time, Ronan joined in too.

First 24 hours
Steph discharged herself before 8am yesterday, and we were all home by about 9:30. Ronan is doing well, and even slept from about 11pm till 4 last night, which was great.
More photos to come soon (time to make Steph some breakfast)

A New Arrival
Well, Ronan was born today at around 6:45pm, weighing 9lb, after a 5 hour and 45 minute labour. Steph and Ronan are both fine. He's very healthy and feeding well.
No excitement like last time, very straight forward birth, which is good!

Vege bed grows
This is roughly where the new vege bed is going to be, but until it's sorted, this is some pumpkin, and melons.
Peas, Tomatoes, spring onions, onions, eggplant, capsicum
Butter Making
We recently aquired some fresh cream, so we decided to make butter, but first I had to make some scotch hands, a butter rack and a press.
New Kite
Steph and I spent the last few nights making a new kite. It's just a big delta, and it flys pretty well for a first attempt.
